My Cinematic Story in Barcelona

We’ve just received a beautifully cinematic story from Milica, writing to us from sunny Barcelona. Here’s what she had to say:

Have you ever dreamed of packing your bags and heading somewhere far away, all on your own? Those kinds of stories have always been my favorite movie plots—and this time, I finally dared to live out one of my own. After nearly a month in Spain, I can honestly say this could be the start of a seriously good film.

Of course, I felt uncertain before the trip. The idea of going somewhere completely unfamiliar, totally alone, was a little intimidating. But by the third day, I knew I had made one of the best decisions of my life. I was living my dream. I’m staying in a place called Salou, right on the coast and not far from Barcelona. It’s a popular spot among tourists and has some truly stunning beaches. I’ve clicked with the host family so well, it feels like I’ve known them forever. The parents are young, and we have a genuinely friendly relationship, full of laughs and good conversation. And the kids? Hilarious—I love spending time with them.

Weekends are for traveling, and weekdays are for playing with the kids, swimming in the pool, and hanging at the beach—rough life, right? After finishing my duties for the day, it’s become a ritual of mine to grab a coffee and a white chocolate croissant (the best I’ve ever had) at the beach bar nearby. I also love evening hangouts on the sand with churros in hand. Exploring Spain’s hidden alleys has become one of my favorite things—these tucked-away spots surprise me way more than the well-known tourist attractions you see online or on TV.

I’m convinced it’s impossible to be bored in Spain. Life surrounded by such joyful, lively people is just pure fun. I genuinely feel like I belong here—like I’m one of them. It feels like home.
