Kristina, one of our lovely participants, writes to us from the beautiful Basque town of Azpeitia. She’s been soaking up the charm of northern Spain for a few weeks now, and here’s what her experience has been like so far.
I’m currently living in Azpeitia, in the north of Spain, and I can honestly say the surroundings are absolutely wonderful — it feels like home. The host family has been nothing but kind and supportive. They’ve always been there for me if I needed anything. They have two daughters, one nine and the other five, both incredibly sweet and well-mannered. We’ve built a really nice bond, and I truly enjoy spending time with them. We’ve explored the town together, playing and having fun along the way. The family welcomed me like one of their own — weekends were often spent hiking in the nearby mountains, relaxing on the beach, or celebrating with their extended family and friends, who also treated me like we’d known each other for ages.
In my free time, I traveled with some of the new friends I’ve made here. We visited other towns nearby, like San Sebastián, and spent sunny days on the beaches of Zumaia, Zarautz, and Getaria. While I was there, the city was buzzing with festivals, concerts, and all kinds of cultural events — I loved every second of it.
When it comes to working with our team, Kristina says:
They’ve been amazing — the entire team was always there whenever I needed them.
And her message to future participants:
I’d recommend this program to anyone looking to try something new and step out of their comfort zone. It’s a unique and exciting experience you won’t forget.
