Bojana, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Barcelona—the vibrant heart of Catalonia—where she’ll be staying for about three months. Here’s what she had to say about her experience so far:
From day one, I’ve felt completely welcomed—like a true member of the family. I also clicked right away with the child I’m caring for, even though we don’t speak the same language. Everything has been flowing smoothly, calmly, and beautifully.
I really appreciate how the family keeps me in the loop about what’s happening around the city—events, festivals—and how they explained everything I need to know about getting around Barcelona and the surrounding areas.
In my free time, I go to the gym, spend a few hours a day at the beach, and on weekends, I dance salsa in the park. What I love most is that I can explore new places every single day and still have plenty of free time to enjoy everything at my own pace.
Her message to future participants:
Don’t hesitate! You’ll always have the support of the Center for anything you need. I have no regrets—and I’ll be coming back to Spain the first chance I get. Next time, maybe a different city—but definitely through this program again!
