Anika, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Viveiro, in the heart of Galicia. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
Right now, I’m in the northern part of Spain, and this has been one of the most beautiful journeys of my life. I had an amazing summer—met so many wonderful people, made great friends, and explored tons of new places. This exchange is perfect for anyone who enjoys new experiences.
What I loved most was the language, the warmth of the people, and all the incredible places I got to see.
The host family welcomed me with open arms, and in these two months, we didn’t have a single problem. Their child is well-behaved and I had no issues whatsoever. My entire stay in Spain was filled with nothing but joy. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for travel and new adventures. It’s a life-changing experience.
Her message to future participants:
A few tips for future participants: Choose your host family carefully. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you expect when you meet them in person, and that’s often due to a lack of communication beforehand. So ask anything and everything you want to know—don’t be shy! That way, you’ll avoid any issues, just like I did. 😊
And if you love meeting new people, making friends, exploring new places, and becoming more independent—this is the program for you! But if being away from your family and friends for an extended time is hard for you, then maybe it’s not the best fit.
