Ana joined the “Discover Spain” program three months ago and is now nearing the end of her Spanish adventure. Here’s what she had to say about her time in Madrid:
In just a few days, it’ll be three months since I arrived in Madrid for my exchange. A lot has happened in that time, and despite the pandemic, I managed to build a little life for myself here and create a circle of friends! Looking back, I’m so glad I took the leap and came. Even though I haven’t seen Madrid in all its full, vibrant glory, I’m grateful I used this time to gain new experiences and step out of my comfort zone.
Living with a host family comes with its challenges, but it’s taught me how to be adaptable and patient. What I’m most proud of is how quickly I picked up Spanish. At first, I was terrified because most of my host family doesn’t speak English—but now we talk in Spanish every day, and the progress is real!
Now that I’m halfway through my stay, I’m already dreading how quickly it’s going to end!
