Nikolina was one of this summer’s participants in the cultural exchange program with Spain. Here’s what her stay in Madrid was like:
When I arrived in Spain, I couldn’t believe I was finally there! I had spent so long dreaming of seeing all those places I’d only read about or seen in pictures. But now, I didn’t have to imagine anymore—I was there!
The kids grew fond of me, and on weekends they’d often wait by the door for me to return from the city. I got to know their extended family pretty quickly, too, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since.
This month flew by. I spent my days strolling through the streets, soaking up the Madrid sunshine, and enjoying the warmth and hospitality of the locals. But what I’ll remember most are the friendships I made—true, lasting friendships that I’ll carry with me forever.
