Tamara is one of the participants in the cultural exchange program with Spain. She chose to spend her summer in Barcelona, diving into a new culture and language. Her adventure started just a few weeks ago, and here’s a short glimpse into her experience so far:
When I landed at the Barcelona airport, I was greeted by the mother of the host family I’d be staying with for the next two months. She told me the kids had already gone to bed—it was 11 PM after all—but that a surprise was waiting for me at home. The hour-long drive flew by in a lovely conversation with Ana, during which we talked a bit about my upcoming responsibilities. And when we finally arrived, I was met with the sweetest welcome—a huge banner across the wall that the girls had made, reading “Bienvenida Tamara!”
A week in, and I already feel like part of the family. I get along great with the parents, the kids, even the neighbors, who surprised me with homemade paella to welcome me. I truly hope that our bond continues to grow stronger each day… there’s still so much ahead of us.
We’re all rooting for Tamara and hoping this experience turns into a beautiful, lasting friendship with her host family.
