A Culinary Adventure – Cultural Exchange in Italy

Our cultural exchange participant in Italy, Jovana, writes to us from Alba, the heart of the Piedmont region, where she’s currently staying. Read more about her experience below.

My first impressions have been amazing! The family has been wonderful to me from the very beginning—they welcomed me right away as one of their own. The kids are sweet and well-mannered, and I bonded with them quickly and easily. Alba is a small but very charming town, with lovely parks, a pool, and a lively city center.

On weekends, I usually take the train to visit nearby towns, or if I make plans with the family, we go on trips together. During the weekdays, in my free time, I like to work out, study, or head into town for a drink or a walk.

What I’ve loved the most so far is how well-organized the family is—we always have a solid plan and tons of activities. They go out of their way to make me feel comfortable and help me see as much of Italy as possible, while also introducing me to their culture, cuisine, and daily life. And the food and wine? Just incredible!

To future participants, she says:

Don’t even hesitate to apply! This is such a fun and amazing experience. It’s a one-of-a-kind way to discover new countries and different ways of life—without spending a ton of money. You also get to improve your language skills and meet new people. Honestly, boredom doesn’t exist in a program like this!
