Our cultural exchange participant, Nataša, who will soon be returning home, wrote to us from Barcelona, where she spent the last month living with a host family and experiencing Spanish culture firsthand.
Even though I was nervous at first, everything went smoothly. People here are incredibly warm and friendly. My host family has been super flexible—everything is based on communication and mutual understanding, which makes everything easier.
I usually spend time exploring Barcelona with my friend or hanging out with the family—relaxing by the pool, playing tennis and padel, going out, and meeting their friends. It’s been a great way to dive into the local culture and see what daily life is really like here.
I can honestly say my impression of the program is amazing. I’m so glad I had the chance to experience something completely different from my own culture and environment. This exchange has had a positive impact on me.
For anyone unsure or hesitant about applying because it feels unfamiliar or overwhelming—I get it, I was skeptical too, and so were my parents. But I’m so proud of myself for not backing out. This has truly been an unforgettable experience, one I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
