Our cultural exchange participant in Italy, Lorena, writes to us from the town of Affi, in the province of Verona, where she’s been staying for a month. Read more about her experience below.
Hello everyone, I’m writing to you from Italy, near the beautiful Lake Garda. I’m staying with a wonderful family who have truly welcomed me as one of their own. Working with a child can be challenging and takes a lot of patience, but at the end of the day, it’s all worth it. You discover so much about yourself and what you’re capable of—and you also gain a little friend for life. You get to know the culture, learn something new every day, and realize that, despite the differences, you really can adapt and function in all kinds of situations. It’s a great life lesson.
I spend my free time exploring nearby towns, meeting new people, and soaking up the nature, culture, and food. What I’ve enjoyed most about being part of this program is the bond I’ve built with the family—especially with the child.
To future participants, she says:
Just go for it and sign up—you never know what it might bring you, and a new experience is always worth having! This is something I’ll remember forever. A big yes from me!
