Aleksandra, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Pamplona, where she’s been staying for a month. Here’s what she shared about her journey:
This program is truly amazing for anyone looking to enrich their life experience. My first impressions of the host family were great—we clicked quickly and adjusted to each other in no time. They’re very understanding and treat me like part of the family.
Pamplona is a unique city that I fell in love with the moment I arrived. It’s not very big, so you can get around easily and quickly. Most people know it for the famous San Fermín festival and the iconic Running of the Bulls. Sadly, I missed it this year, but I’m already hoping to return someday and experience it for myself.
In my free time, I explore the city’s landmarks, take trips to nearby towns, and try local food and drinks. One of my favorite ways to spend a day off is relaxing on the beach in the beautiful northern city of San Sebastián, which is only an hour away.
What I’ve enjoyed the most is the chance to improve my Spanish, live with a Spanish family, and truly experience their way of life. I also had the chance to visit France and even swim in the Atlantic on one of its stunning beaches.
