A Program Worth Recommending – Cultural Exchange in the USA

Our cultural exchange participant Mia writes to us from Randolph, New Jersey, where she’ll be spending the next year. Read more about her experience so far.

I’ve been in the program for four months now, and I only have good things to say—about both the host family and the program itself. I live in Randolph, a peaceful and beautiful neighborhood in New Jersey. The family welcomed me as one of their own, I love spending time with them, and our communication is really strong.

In my free time, I hang out with friends I met through the program and play volleyball, which also helped me meet lots of new people. I often go on walks and hikes with the family’s dogs. New York City is just an hour away from where I live, so I’ve already visited the “Big Apple” several times.

What I’ve enjoyed the most are the meaningful connections I’ve made—with both my host family and my new friends. The people you meet through this program stay in your life for good.

When it comes to working with our team, Mia adds:

The collaboration with the Center was fantastic. Thanks to the amazing people I was in contact with, the entire process—from finding a family to getting my visa and arriving in the U.S.—was incredibly smooth and quick.

Her message to future participants:

To anyone thinking about applying: take the leap and go for it—you won’t regret it. The most important part is finding a family you really connect with. Once that’s in place, everything else will fall into place too.
