Milica, one of our cultural exchange participants, writes to us from the sunny city of Estepona, in the province of Málaga, where she’s been living for the past month. Here’s what she had to say about her first impressions:

Estepona completely won me over with its charm. The streets, the beaches, and the scenery all make it a perfect place to dive into Spanish life and culture.

The family I’m staying with welcomed me like I was one of their own. From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home, not like a guest in someone else’s house. They’ve been so warm, thoughtful, and genuinely interested in including me in their everyday life. We spend a lot of time together exploring Estepona and nearby towns, chatting about Spanish customs, daily routines, and cultural differences. If you’re someone who’s craving a new adventure, dreaming of living in a movie-like setting, or simply curious to learn a new language and way of life, this is your sign. My experience here in Estepona is something I’ll never forget, and it’s enriching me in every way imaginable.

She also shared how she spends her free time and what’s stood out most:

I’ve been exploring both Estepona and the surrounding area, learning the language, diving into Spanish culture and cuisine, and even taking sevillanas dance classes. I love spending time at the beach. What’s stood out is how welcoming the family has been—they go out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I’ve also been struck by the friendly, easygoing nature of the locals, and of course, the beauty of the cities, the language, and the culture.
