Vladana, one of our exchange participants, is checking in from the enchanting town of Ubrique in Andalusia, where she’ll be soaking up the sun and culture for the next three months. Keep reading to hear all about her first impressions:
From the moment I arrived in Ubrique, everything felt amazing. The host family was unbelievably kind and welcoming—they greeted me with signs, streamers, and balloons, which immediately showed me how much they cared about making me feel at home. The town itself is peaceful and beautiful, full of local charm that gives it a unique, cozy vibe. Paired with such a lovely family, it’s safe to say this whole experience already feels unforgettable.
She also shared a bit about how she spends her free time, and what’s stood out to her the most:
In my spare time, I love exploring the town and nearby cities with the family. They’ve really gone out of their way to show me around and introduce me to local traditions and landmarks. I’ve also started taking bachata classes at a nearby studio, which has been such a fun way to connect with Spanish culture. What I’ve enjoyed the most is how quickly I felt like part of the family. From day one, I had no trouble settling in because they immediately treated me as one of their own. I’ve learned so much about the language, the culture, and everyday Spanish life. The fact that I get to discover new places and dive into local traditions makes my stay even more meaningful.
When it comes to her experience working with our team, Vladana had nothing but praise:
