Jelena, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, wrote to us from the beautiful town of Romay, near Valencia. She’s been enjoying her time there for several weeks now, and here’s what she had to say about her incredible experience:
I’m really happy with how everything is going. The host family is lovely, and I’ve settled in nicely. The little boys I take care of are adorable. As for the location—I’m just outside Valencia, which is stunning. I’ve also had the chance to visit other places like Alicante, Benidorm, and Altea, and I completely fell in love with all of them.
Overall, I just really love this country, and I’m beyond happy that I have the chance to explore it more deeply and get to know it better.
In my free time, I love going for walks and discovering new places. I’m also working on improving my Spanish, trying to meet new people, and keeping up with my workouts. What I’ve enjoyed the most is being surrounded by the Spanish language and culture for an extended period—it’s such a great way to truly absorb it.

Just do it—don’t overthink it. Throughout the whole program, you’ll have the support of the amazing girls from the Center—they’re always kind and ready to help. People here are generally very relaxed, and everyone shares the same goal: to make this time together as enjoyable and meaningful as possible.
