Living the Spanish Way of Life

One of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, Jelisaveta, spent a month in Pontevedra, a city tucked into the northwestern corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Here’s what her experience looked like:

The family I stayed with was truly kind and did their best to help me adapt easily to their way of life.

Pontevedra is a medium-sized city, and it has everything you might need—shops, restaurants, cafés—and the beach is super close, which was a huge bonus. It’s also well connected to nearby cities, which makes getting around simple. And I have to say, the weather here is much more pleasant than back home in the Balkans.

I mostly spent my free time exploring the city. I also had the chance to visit Madrid and Porto, and I was left completely speechless by both.

The program itself is really well thought out, but what stood out to me most was the opportunity to connect with other participants from all over the world. I got to meet so many people from across Europe, and together we explored a new culture and lifestyle—something many of us had never experienced before.

To anyone thinking about applying to the program, I’d say: go for it! You won’t regret it.
