Tamara took part in a cultural exchange program, and as a student of the Spanish language, choosing Spain felt like the most natural decision. For two months with a local family, she made great strides in improving her Spanish.
As a Spanish language student, I was looking for the best possible exchange program that would help me master the language and immerse myself in the culture—what better way than living with a Spanish family?
After wrapping up her exams in July, Tamara headed to a small Catalan province called Berga. Through the program, she not only polished her Spanish but also got a taste of Catalan and learned about the similarities and differences between the two languages. Her host family, she says, was beyond amazing.
If I could’ve chosen them myself, I wouldn’t have picked better. They went above and beyond anything I expected. I love hiking and staying active, and I was able to enjoy some kind of sport or outdoor activity almost every day.
Tamara fills her free time with new hobbies and also spends time with the children in her host family. She enjoys traveling with other exchange participants and exploring new places. What stood out most? The chance to try all the local dishes and drinks—and the new friendships that came along the way. She found the Spanish people to be incredibly warm and welcoming.
The first thing you’ll hear from them is how well you speak their language and how beautiful you are—what more could you ask for, right? From the beaches to the mountain peaks, I honestly couldn’t choose what I loved most.
