A Chance to Make New Friends – Cultural Exchange in Spain

Teodora, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, has been living for a month and a half in Marratxí, a peaceful town in the Raiguer region of Mallorca. Here’s what she shared about her experience so far:

Her first impressions? Wonderful. The family is amazing—so warm and loving. They help me with everything and go out of their way to show me different places. I honestly have no complaints.” Marratxí is a small, quiet town near Palma, mostly made up of family homes. Teodora says she’s met all the neighbors and their kids, and they’ve welcomed her like one of their own. If I had gotten to choose from scratch, I don’t think I could have picked a better place.

In her free time, she’s been exploring beaches and interesting spots around Mallorca. The family recommended some great places, and they often go on outings together as well.

What stood out the most for her? “Honestly, everything. Life on Mallorca, the amazing host family that welcomed me like one of their own, and the friends I’ve made along the way.

Her advice for future participants:

My experience has been incredible, but that’s mostly because I ended up with a great host family. So my advice to anyone thinking about joining the program—make sure you really connect with the family before you commit. Have a few conversations if needed, just to be sure. Good luck!
