Our cultural exchange participant in Italy, Sara, spent two months in Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. Read more about her experience below.
My experience was truly wonderful. A big part of that was thanks to the incredibly kind family who made sure I felt comfortable and treated me like one of their own. Of course, the kids could be a bit mischievous at times, but we always managed to sort things out through conversation.
Besides the fact that the family took me along on several beach vacations, I also used my free time to explore other regions of Italy on my own—places like Pisa, Florence, Siena, Bologna, and more. What I enjoyed most was the sense of independence and freedom to plan my little adventures, while still having the support and warmth of the host family waiting for me at home.
