We heard from Andrea, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, who’s been living in the beautiful town of Arroyo de la Encomienda, near Valladolid. She’s been soaking up the charm of the area—and her adventure has been anything but boring! Here’s what she had to say:
The place I’m staying in is a small suburb, but even so, I’ve managed to plan trips and explore some amazing cities and towns nearby. When it comes to the host family, I feel like I lucked out—they’re wonderful. Just like we agreed, I have meals, accommodation, and pocket money covered, and I use my free time to travel to bigger cities.I made the most of every single weekend. I spent my first weekend in Madrid with another girl from the program. The next one I spent with the host family in a village called Sanabria. And then, over the past two weekends, I’ve been to Alicante, Valencia, and Seville.What left the biggest impression on me during this whole experience was meeting new people, learning a new language, trying new foods, and getting to see so many different places.
