Exploring the Shores of Mallorca – Cultural Exchange in Spain

Borna, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from the stunning island of Mallorca, where ancient cathedrals meet modern boutiques. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

This program will throw you straight into the fire of life—in the best possible way. I’ve been living in Mallorca for two months now, and saying that it’s been life-changing would be an understatement. The long, sunny winter days are pure bliss and perfect for all the activities I’ve taken up here.

I joined a local dance studio, go to the gym and group classes, play volleyball, and sometimes even attend salsa lessons.

The host family welcomed me with open arms, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me. Palma de Mallorca is a breathtaking city, filled with sandy beaches and hidden coves that leave you speechless.

Most of my days are spent training and relaxing by the sea. On weekends, I travel with some amazing friends I’ve met here. We’ve already visited Sóller, Valldemossa, and Deià. I’ve met people from all over the world.

I’m so thankful for this entire experience—but what I’ve loved the most is finally being able to speak Spanish. When I was a little girl, I watched tons of Mexican telenovelas and learned the language that way, but I never had the chance to speak it—until now.

Ihre Botschaft an zukünftige Teilnehmer:

To all future participants, I’d say: choose your host family very carefully—it’s the most important part of the whole experience. As for the program itself? I recommend it.
