Our cultural exchange participant in Spain, Marija, spent two unforgettable months in Jávea, a charming coastal town near Valencia. Here’s what she shared about her experience.
The family I stayed with was wonderful. They welcomed me as one of their own, and I grew very attached to them in such a short amount of time. I got along so well with the parents and genuinely enjoyed our conversations. The family had two daughters, and I completely adore them. We loved spending time together, and it felt like I had known them much longer. They’re incredibly smart, sweet, and full of love.
Jávea itself is a lovely little summer town, exactly what I had imagined. I had access to a car, so I spent most of my free time exploring the beaches, the old town, and local landmarks.
What I loved most was getting to know Spanish culture and experiencing what it’s like to live in Spain. I truly enjoyed my time with the family and feel so grateful to have met them and shared a home with them.
If you’re on the fence about applying for this program, just do it! For me, it was a beautiful, life-changing experience. I stepped out of my comfort zone, and it turned out to be the best decision I could’ve made. Now I know I’m capable of anything!
