Jerez de la Frontera – Less Touristy, More Charming

Ruška, one of our cultural exchange participants, spent three enriching months in Jerez de la Frontera, a beautiful town in the province of Cádiz, nestled in the heart of Andalusia, southern Spain.

Jerez is lovely, and what she liked most was that it’s not a major tourist hub. That makes it perfect for peaceful strolls and truly soaking in the local vibe. She also emphasized how well she clicked with her host family, describing them as warm and welcoming, which made her stay all the more meaningful.

During her free time, Ruška made a point to travel and explore new places, especially other cities across Spain. The country is rich in culture and tradition, and she felt that no matter where you go, you can’t go wrong.

One of her main motivations for joining the program was to improve her Spanish, and she believes there’s no better way to do that than by living in a country where the language is spoken every day.

Her advice for future participants:

Always communicate clearly with your host family about your schedule so you can stay organized and make time both for bonding with the family and for traveling and cultural exploration. Good time management is the key to getting the most out of this experience.
