Aleksandra, one of our cultural exchange participants, spent two and a half unforgettable months in Algaida, a charming village tucked away on the island of Mallorca. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
I think this program is amazing for young people who are ready to step out of their comfort zone and enrich their lives with new experiences. Algaida is a small place, but since the host family provided me with a car, I had the chance to explore the entire island. I spent two months hopping between Mallorca’s unbelievably beautiful beaches. The rest of the time, I visited historical sites across the island—and even managed a trip to Barcelona, thanks to the affordable flights and free weekends.
Although Aleksandra did face a few challenges, she powered through them and didn’t let anything stop her from soaking up the magic of Mallorca. She returned home with a suitcase full of beautiful memories and a heart full of gratitude for the exchange experience.
What I loved most about this program is that it truly pushed me to grow and gave me the chance to live in such an incredible place. The program is well organized, and the coordinators are always available and supportive.
Her advice to future participants?
Apply—and stay as long as you can! The longer you’re there, the more you’ll experience. It’s normal to feel a little out of place at first in a completely new environment, but try to embrace every opportunity and connect with as many people as possible. It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
