Elizabeta, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, wrote to us from the beautiful coastal town of Jávea (Xàbia), located in the province of Alicante. She’s been enjoying everything this vibrant place has to offer—and here’s what she had to share about her experience:
From day one, I felt like I’d known the host family for years. They were incredibly warm and welcoming and made a real effort to help me feel at home. They even took me on a tour around the area. Jávea is a stunning tourist town with gorgeous beaches and amazing energy. I live in the old part of town, where festivals are constantly happening. There’s music on every corner, and it’s not uncommon for people to spontaneously start dancing in the street!In my free time, I go to the beach, meet new people, take walks and photos, and explore local landmarks and nearby towns with other participants from the program.
This program is truly an incredible opportunity to step outside your comfort zone. Living with a family that comes from a different culture opens your mind in so many ways. What I especially love is how included I am in the family’s daily life—they go out of their way to show me something new every day. We explored the area together, and no two days on this program have felt the same.
When it comes to working with our team, Elizabeta says:
I’ve been very happy with the support from the Center. They’re always kind, approachable, and available to offer advice and help throughout the entire program.
And her message for future participants:
My advice? Don’t overthink it—just apply and give yourself a chance to live out an unforgettable experience that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.
