Anja, one of our cultural exchange participants, writes to us from the beautiful island of Mallorca. For the past few weeks, she’s been soaking up the charm of Palma de Mallorca — and trust us, her experience is something you’ll want to read about.
I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join this program — not once have I regretted it. Life in Mallorca feels like a dream. Palma is an absolutely stunning city with so much to offer in your free time. It’s the perfect place for young people — you get the best of both worlds: gorgeous nature and beaches, and a vibrant nightlife. As for my host family, I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. They were the first family to reach out to me, and we clicked right away. The girls welcomed me from day one, and I’ve felt like part of the family ever since. It already makes me sad to think about saying goodbye, but I really hope we’ll see each other again someday. These two months have flown by — they’ve been filled with amazing experiences and memories I’ll hold onto forever.
In my free time, I’ve been exploring different beaches and nearby towns. The transportation system here is great, so you can get from one side of the island to the other in no time. I’ve also met other girls in the program, and we spend our weekends together — discovering new places, hanging out at the beach, and enjoying the nightlife.
What I love most is that every day brings new people into my life — people from different countries and cultures. It’s such a great way to learn new languages and broaden your perspective. When it comes to working with the team at the Center, I’m really satisfied. The whole application process was smooth and quick, and they were always there to answer my questions — whether it was about building my profile or finding a family. The coordinators were kind and super patient.
My advice for future candidates? Take your time when choosing a host family — it’s the most important part of the experience. You’ll be spending most of your time with them, so it’s essential to feel comfortable and at ease. When you’re getting to know potential families, ask everything you’re curious about and be honest — that’s the best way to find a family that’s truly the right fit for you.
