A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity – Cultural Exchange in Spain

Nađa, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, wrote to us from the stunning town of Tarifa, in the Cádiz region. She’s been enjoying her time there for several weeks now, and here’s what she had to say about her unforgettable journey:

The host family has been wonderful—they’re always checking in to see if I need anything. We get along really well, and they’re constantly helping me learn Spanish with ease. The little boy I take care of is two years old and just the cutest! We go on walks together or play at home.

I’ve been living in Tarifa for the past three months. It’s a charming little town with gorgeous long beaches and everything you could need within reach. The people here are lovely, which has helped me meet lots of new friends to practice Spanish with.

In my free time, I explore nearby beaches, visit other cities, go for long walks, and hang out with the friends I’ve made. What I love most is my host family—they’re always there for me, making sure I have everything I need. I’ve also met some incredible people and friends here, and together we explore different places and help each other improve our Spanish.

Y su mensaje a los futuros participantes:

This truly is a beautiful experience. I’d encourage future candidates to stay as long as they can so they can make the most of every moment—because this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s completely normal to feel a little lonely at times, being in a new and unfamiliar place, but try to grab every chance that comes your way and connect with as many people as possible. And most importantly, choose a host family that’s a good fit for you—because the right family can make every day in a foreign country feel that much easier and more rewarding.
