China Offers Breathtaking Views at Every Turn – Cultural Exchange Experience

China ofrece vistas impresionantes a cada paso - Experiencia de intercambio cultural

Natalija, a participant in the cultural exchange program with China, writes to us about her adventure abroad. Here’s a glimpse into her first few weeks in this fascinating country:

I’ve always wondered what life is like on the other side of the world. So when I saw that the Center for Affirmation and Development offers a chance to experience China through a cultural exchange program, I didn’t hesitate for a second—I signed up immediately.

My journey began in Hangzhou, and the very next day, I took a train to Beijing, where my host family greeted me with open arms and eager curiosity about Serbia and our culture. In just my first three weeks in the Chinese capital, I visited some absolutely incredible places.

One of my favorites was Yuyuantan Park, where I took a peaceful boat ride and enjoyed a panoramic view of the surrounding nature. Then there was Fragrant Hills, where I joined locals at 558 meters above sea level to admire the scenery in the days leading up to China’s 70th anniversary celebration. For anyone who dreams of traveling the world but doesn’t have the time or means, I’d wholeheartedly recommend Beijing World Park—a magical place filled with replicas of famous landmarks from across the globe: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Taj Mahal, Easter Island, and even some of the ancient wonders of the world that no longer exist.

Another gem is the Beijing Botanical Garden, home to countless themed gardens that truly feel like something out of a dream—no exaggeration.

And let’s not forget the food!

Chinese cuisine deserves a whole article on its own. Every single day brings new flavors, and the experience starts even before tasting—thanks to the vibrant smells, beautiful presentation, and atmosphere. Every meal is a sensory delight.

As for the people—they’re incredibly friendly and curious about foreigners. I’ve gotten used to strangers stopping me in parks, on the street, or even in the subway just to take a photo or have a quick chat. It’s become a fun and unexpected part of daily life.

All in all, this is just the beginning. And I truly hope that in the months to come, I’ll get to witness even more of the breathtaking sights that China offers around every corner.
