We’re hearing from Mina, one of our cultural exchange participants, who’s currently enjoying life in beautiful Italy. Here’s what she had to say about her journey:
Hi, I’m Mina. I’ve always dreamed of spending time in Italy and getting to know the culture better. So when I saw CAR’s post about this opportunity, I didn’t hesitate—I signed up for an interview right away. Huge thanks to Marija, who did my initial interview, gave me all the details, and let me know I’d been accepted into the program. She walked me through all the paperwork and was always there to answer my questions. And a special thank you to Dragana, who convinced me to get in touch with the first family that reached out—even though they were located in the far south of Italy and I originally had my heart set on the north. I’m so glad I listened to her, because I wouldn’t change a thing.
The family have considered her as their member right away:
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed as a true part of the family. We traveled together to nearby cities and islands, and they introduced me to their local customs and culture. I had the most incredible month and a half and made lifelong friends along the way. The boys in the family started calling me their sister, and we’re already planning to meet again—this time in Belgrade!
Thank you, CAR, for making all of this possible. I’d recommend this experience to absolutely everyone. You’re guaranteed to come back full of joy, memories, and a fresh perspective.
