Reporting from beautiful Italy, Marija—one of our cultural exchange participants—shares her unforgettable journey. Read her story below:

Hi! My name is Marija, and I’m one of those people who will always remember this exchange as one of the most beautiful chapters in their life. At first, I didn’t know much about the cultural exchange program through the Center for Affirmation and Development, so I decided to attend an info session to learn more. That’s where I met Jovana, who kindly and thoroughly explained how everything works—and I was immediately sold on the idea of giving it a try.

Even though I knew it came with some uncertainty—I had never done anything like this before and didn’t know anyone who had—I didn’t hesitate. I had my parents’ full support, even if they were a bit uneasy about me going far away to take part in something so unfamiliar.

What gave me even more confidence was the amazing team at the Center. They kept me informed about every step, answered all my questions, and made sure that all of us preparing for departure knew we could always count on them—both in Serbia and in Italy. Full of hope and excitement, I began this journey that turned into a golden experience I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
