Our cultural exchange participant in Italy, Iva, checks in from the beautiful Marciana Marina, on the island of Elba near Livorno, where she’s been staying for the past month. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
I’m really happy with the program itself, as well as the host family who welcomed me from day one and with whom I feel completely safe. I settled in very quickly and I’m honestly so grateful to spend this month and a half with them. The town we’re in is small but charming – perfect for relaxing and enjoying those laid-back summer days.
In my free time, I usually relax at home, hang out at the beach, or take walks through town. I also sometimes get the chance to visit other places around the island, which is great.What I love the most is being able to experience Italian culture and language firsthand – it’s such a valuable way to learn, grow, and gain new perspectives.
When it comes to her experience working with our team, Iva adds:
The collaboration with the Center gave me a real sense of security and made the whole application and departure process so much easier.
And her message to future participants?
I would recommend signing up for the program to everyone – I truly believe this kind of wonderful, unique experience is something we all need at least once in our lives.
