Nina, a participant in the cultural exchange program with China, shares her heartfelt reflections as her six-month adventure nears its end. Here’s what she had to say:
Coming to China was a decision I made on a whim—and as someone who considers herself a bit of an adventurer, it didn’t take much convincing to embark on this exciting and unforgettable six-month journey.
I’ve now been in China for five months, and I adapted much faster than I expected—even though many people warned me about culture shock. At first, the differences are all you notice: the food, the customs, even how meals are eaten. Here, utensils are rarely used, so my chopstick skills have had to level up—fast!
But as time goes on, you find yourself adapting without even realizing it. Life in this enormous city—a place big enough to fit all of Serbia—suddenly becomes your new normal.
With just one month left before heading home, Nina reflects:
Honestly, I’d stay longer if I could. This experience is hard to put into words—and even harder to capture in photos. For me, it’s been absolutely priceless.
China will always have a place in my heart. And I truly hope I’ll return to it one day.
