Bozana made her dream come true and spent several unforgettable months in Italy. What she discovered once she settled in will warm your heart.
When I first heard about the cultural exchange program in Italy, I decided it was time to return—not for a quick three-day tourist visit, but for a full three-month stay. And once I arrived and joined my new host family, I knew I’d made the right decision. After just a month, I caught myself thinking—I never want to leave. I feel like I belong here.
She connected instantly with the family:
From day one, I’ve had a great relationship with the family. I take care of two lively little girls, but honestly, it’s been a joy. Their mom is wonderful and does everything she can to make this experience something I’ll always treasure. Together, we’ve explored many sights and local gems in the area near Bergamo. I’m currently staying in a town called Palazzago, and we’re planning a trip to nearby Milan soon. I actually spent the first ten days of the exchange at the beach in Cesenatico, which was absolutely beautiful. The food here is amazing—although I’ll admit, I wasn’t used to eating this much pasta back home, so we joke a lot about “basta pasta!” I’m loving the local specialties and trying to pick up as many recipes as I can to bring a taste of Italy back to my own kitchen.
She is still enjoying her time and appreciating every moment spent there.
This program has been the perfect way to improve my English, discover a new country, and open myself up to new experiences. I truly hope things continue as smoothly as they’ve gone so far—and who knows, maybe I’ll find myself here again someday.
