Mia, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, spent two unforgettable months in Son Verí, a lovely town on the island of Mallorca. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
I’m incredibly happy with the program. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been in love with Spanish culture—its music, language, food—and now I finally have the chance to explore it up close. The coordinators at the center were a huge help during the preparation phase, and they were professional and supportive right from the start.
My host family gave me the warmest welcome. From day one, they treated me like a member of the family. They were kind, generous, and open, and although I was nervous at first (especially about living with four people and a little Pomeranian after being used to living alone), I adapted quickly. After just a week, I already felt at home. Our dinner conversations were fun and full of laughter.
Mallorca is truly magical—it’s full of things to do and discover. I was blown away by the culture, the weather, the music, and the food. The house I stayed in had a stunning view of the sea and a gorgeous beach just steps away. The area was peaceful and surrounded by nature. Honestly, it felt surreal. I made memories that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
In my free time, I explored nearby towns, went on short trips, took tennis lessons, and visited museums, palaces, and art galleries. There was always something new to see or do.
What stood out to me the most was how rich the culture is—the music, the flavors, and the incredible people I got to meet. This experience helped me grow, step out of my comfort zone, and truly connect with Spanish life more deeply.
