Our cultural exchange participant, Aleksandra, who is soon wrapping up her program, shared her experience from sunny Andalusia—more precisely, from Seville, the capital of this vibrant southern region of Spain.
I’ve clicked with my host family, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Because they recently moved, I actually got to spend time with them in Cádiz as well—a coastal city southwest of Seville that sits right on the Atlantic Ocean.
In my free time, I try to explore the city as much as I can, and whenever possible, I take trips to nearby places.
My experience with the family has been wonderful. They truly went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I feel completely at home here because the parents are just lovely—they help me with anything I need and are always happy to support me when I ask.
To anyone thinking about joining this program, I’d say:
Go for it! I truly believe you can have an incredible experience. One piece of advice I’d give is to choose your host family carefully. So much depends on how well you get along with them, so pick a family that seems genuinely interesting and easy to connect with—you’ll thank yourself later.
