Marija, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Castellón de la Plana, a coastal town near Valencia. Here’s what she shared about her experience:
It’s truly a beautiful little city and an amazing region overall. I lived in a house just steps from the beach. The people were incredibly kind, and my host family was absolutely lovely—I had so many wonderful moments with them and their friends. In my free time, I explored everything in the surrounding area, and later on, I began traveling even more.
What I love the most about the program is how it connects people and cultures. I met so many wonderful people through it—other participants, as well as locals who already lived in Spain. I also improved my English and Spanish, while learning about their culture, traditions, and daily habits. Getting to experience a different way of life from inside a typical Spanish family was an incredible opportunity—one I would absolutely do again and recommend to others.

To anyone considering the program—I encourage you to take this chance. Gain new experiences, learn new languages, and travel as much as you can. Even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone, it’s worth it. Changing your environment in this way will help you grow in the best possible direction.
