Tamara checks in from the Spanish province of Zuera, near Zaragoza, and she’s not holding back—this has been one of the most beautiful experiences of her life so far. What makes her feel this way? The charm of Spain is around every corner, the energy and mindset of her host family, and the warmth she’s been met with since day one.
From the moment I arrived, they made me feel like I was already part of the community—welcomed, safe, and genuinely appreciated. They’ve gone out of their way to show me the local sights, introduce me to their culture and way of life, and in return, I’ve done my best to represent my own country and customs. The kids I take care of warmed up to me instantly—and I to them—so spending time together is nothing but joy.
Tamara spends her free time wandering around Zaragoza, taking in the architecture, the history, and the vibe of the city. Locals even joke that she knows it better than they do by now.
When I’m not in Zaragoza, I spend time with the family at one of the cafés they own. It’s the social hub of the town—small, lively, and filled with familiar faces. Everyone wants to chat with the “newcomer” and hear more about where I come from. The whole place is so welcoming. Honestly, it’s the perfect chance to step out of your comfort zone—and enjoy it.
