A Warm Summer in Andalusia

Una calda estate in Andalusia

Dora checks in from Córdoba to share her experience—and offers a heartfelt message for future participants:

Hi there!
Right now, I’m on a cultural exchange program in Spain, mostly based in Córdoba. But since my host family loves to travel, just like me, we’ve also spent time in other parts of the country, like Seville, Cádiz, and the surrounding areas, as well as Ciudad Real and beyond.

Spaniards are generally very warm and friendly people, and my host family is no exception. They welcomed me into their lives like I was one of their own, and I genuinely feel like part of the family. It’s been such a joy spending time with them.

The little girl I teach English to is five years old—super sweet and quick to learn. We mostly read stories, draw, write, and watch cartoons together… nothing too complicated. I also have a good amount of free time, and in terms of expenses, there aren’t many. With the stipend, everything is covered, and I often end up with a bit left over. Meals and accommodation are taken care of by the family. In my case, I even have my room and bathroom.

As for the Center for Affirmation and Development, I can only say great things. Everything was exactly as explained during the application process, and the team is always accessible, supportive, and trustworthy. At first, it almost felt too good to be true—but it really is this good.

To anyone who’s unsure about whether to go or not: just go for it. You absolutely won’t regret it!
