Un'esperienza indimenticabile in Spagna

Lamija, a participant in the “Discover Spain” program, shares her heartwarming experience of cultural exchange. Here’s what she had to say:

Sunsets in Madrid? I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my life. The days are over 13 hours, giving you time for everything! Writing about Spain honestly deserves its column, but here’s a glimpse into my month and a half in this vibrant country. I spent most of my time in Madrid and Valencia, but I also visited Toledo, Mérida (in Extremadura), and even crossed the border into Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

From the moment I stepped foot on Spanish soil, I felt like a piece of me belonged there. That feeling only grew stronger with every smile I encountered—on the streets, in shops, cinemas, beaches, restaurants, museums, temples, and most of all, in the home of the wonderful host family I stayed with. I’m not exaggerating when I say that grumpy faces are rare here. People go out of their way to offer help, give advice, or simply brighten your day with a compliment.

I returned home with unforgettable memories, new friendships, a deeper understanding of Spanish culture, and a significantly improved vocabulary. In my host family’s home, I felt like part of the family, though at times they spoiled me so much I felt more like a guest. I’m beyond grateful for their kindness!
