Maša, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Son Serra de Marina, a peaceful coastal town on the island of Mallorca, where she’ll be spending three months. Here’s what she had to say about her experience so far:
I live with a little boy and his mom in a quiet neighborhood where every house has its own pool and a beautiful path that leads to the beach. Just ten minutes away is the tourist town of Can Picafort, where I spend a lot of my time. That’s where I take the boy to his tennis, football, and karate classes. We spend one week together, and the following week he’s with his dad—so that week I’m completely free to explore the island.
I have way more free time than I expected! I usually go out in the evenings, and during the day I walk along the seaside or go swimming. I’ve been traveling all over the island, but I find myself coming back to Palma de Mallorca most often.
I’ve gone horseback riding on the beach, taken photos by the sea, biking along the coast, and watched some of the most breathtaking sunsets. I can’t wait to visit all the beaches locals have recommended to me. Since I’m in a touristy area, I meet new people every single day. Also, the host family owns a cocktail bar, so I spend a lot of time there too.
