Slađana had always dreamed of visiting Spain—and not just for a short trip, but to truly live there. Thanks to a cultural exchange program, that dream finally became a reality.
Coming to Spain has, hands down, been the best decision I’ve ever made. I took a leap, stepped outside my comfort zone, and with a bit of determination—and of course, the help of my coordinator—I made it happen. I’d visited Spain before, but this time was different. With my host family, I had the chance to explore the south of Spain—Marbella, Malaga, Granada, Seville, and Nerja—and then spend the rest of my two-month stay in the heart of Madrid.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped being shy about speaking Spanish and even made the decision to apply for a master’s degree here. The beautiful, exotic landscapes, rich culture and traditions, the sunshine almost every day… it all had a deeply positive effect on me. I made new friends, found a second family, and got to experience daily life in a way that made me feel like I truly belonged, not just a tourist passing through.
Of course, there were tough days, moments when I missed home, but I know I’ll be back. There’s still so much more to explore. All in all, this has been a magical experience, and I can’t wait for my next adventure in this incredible country.
