Isidora, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from Tres Cantos, a lovely town just outside vibrant Madrid. Here’s what she had to share about her experience:
This journey gave me a unique opportunity to truly experience Spain firsthand and immerse myself in its rich culture. I spent nearly three months in a town near Madrid and had the chance to explore the city from many different angles.
My first impressions were fantastic—the host family welcomed me warmly and made me feel right at home. I had everything I needed, and I never lacked a thing. I formed a strong bond with the children and we had such a fun time together over these three months. We shared our similarities and differences and enjoyed learning from one another.
Madrid completely won me over. Its incredible museums, breathtaking parks, and stunning architecture left a lasting impression on me—things I know I’ll never forget. The city gave me so many opportunities, and I tried to make the most of all of them.
Besides discovering everything Madrid has to offer, I also visited Toledo and Segovia—two charming towns just an hour away from the capital, each with its unique personality and history. There was more than enough to fill my free time with exciting activities.
There’s truly something for everyone here—whether you’re into art, sports, or adventure. What I loved most was the opportunity to travel, explore, and experience something new—to become part of a different culture and way of life. I’m taking home so many amazing memories and lessons I’ll carry with me forever.

I would encourage everyone to be brave enough to step into a new adventure and out of their comfort zone—because that’s where growth and transformation happen. The best things in life do happen outside your comfort zone.
