Spain – A Treasure Trove of Culture and Art

Olivera, a participant in the cultural exchange program in Spain, shares her story from the charming town of Conil de la Frontera, nestled on the southern coast of the country.

This program offers so much and asks so little in return. I’m truly grateful to be part of it. I’ve always loved Spain—its language, its culture—and the day finally came when my dream became reality: to live here and spend time with a traditional Spanish family. I’m currently in Conil de la Frontera, a beautiful spot in the Cádiz region with, hands down, the most stunning beaches. The family welcomed me with warmth and kindness. People in Andalusia are incredibly open-hearted, and not once did I feel like a stranger. My first impression was amazing. The girls I spend time with and I learn from each other daily, discovering that our worlds are more alike than we thought. Every day with them feels like a new fairytale.

Aside from starting yoga classes right after I arrived, I spend my free time soaking up the sun on the beach or exploring nearby towns, diving into their rich history and cultural landmarks. I’m genuinely blown away by the beauty of Spain—it is a treasure chest of heritage, art, and tradition. The acceptance, care, and support I’ve received from my host family made me feel safe, seen, and truly at home. Living in Andalusia, the birthplace of flamenco, bullfighting, and Picasso, is an experience like no other.

If you’re curious, adventurous, and eager to grow, this program will give you more than you expect. Trust yourself and become part of this incredible journey—it’s a story you’ll carry with you forever.
