Vanja, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, writes to us from A Coruña, where history unfolds along the rugged Galician coast in the northwest of the country. Here’s what she shared about her experience:
My first impressions? Amazing! The host family is everything I could’ve hoped for. I feel like an equal part of the family every single day. A Coruña has a unique spirit, and the people here continue to amaze me more and more as time goes on. The beaches that stretch endlessly along the Atlantic are something truly special—especially for those of us who come from cities with only rivers.
My Spanish has improved significantly thanks to daily conversations and the family’s generous support. I’m discovering their culture in a way I never had the chance to before.
In my free time, I walk along beautiful beaches, meet new people, travel, and dance bachata, salsa, and kizomba. What I’ve loved most is the chance to deepen my language skills while truly immersing myself in the culture.
Her message to future participants:
I would recommend this program to anyone ready to step outside their comfort zone—to discover new cultures, meet new people, learn a language, and grow in so many different ways!
