Aneta, one of our cultural exchange participants in Spain, shares her impressions from the city of Lleida, where she’s been living for the past month and a half.
Her overall impression? Very positive. She gets along wonderfully with her host family and the children, too. There were some language hurdles at the start, but they worked through them and managed to adapt to one another. The city itself isn’t very large, but it’s well-kept, full of green spaces, and charming in its way.
During the week, Aneta keeps busy learning Spanish on Duolingo, reading books, exploring the city on foot or by bike, and occasionally going out in the evenings. Weekends are reserved for traveling to other cities and discovering new places.
When asked what she enjoyed most, Aneta couldn’t pick just one thing.
Traveling around Spain, meeting locals, learning the language, spending quality time with the children—it’s all been so rewarding that she simply couldn’t single out one favorite part.
Her message to future participants:
Don’t overthink it—just apply! There’s nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Go for it!
